To the ALL community, to all who knew Anthony and honor his memory today:
Thank you for extending your generosity toward me as this year’s medical scholarship recipient. I am honored to be recognized by the Foundation, whose mission and principles resonate deeply with my own.
Now in the fourth year of my medical training, I’ve come to appreciate the role that good health plays in facilitating many other aspects of life. While health can be pursued for its own sake, its fullness is revealed in enabling the healthy individual to pursue those other things that make life rich: deep relationships, fruitful work, joy, and wonder. Listening to the witness of those who knew Anthony, I know he was someone whose life was filled with these blessings—which he used in turn to bless and serve others.
And there are types of health that are not merely physical. Just as the health of an individual is plain to us, the health of communities can be recognized. Communal health can be pursued and strengthened. As our communities become healthier, we see marks that testify to the good that is at work: concern for justice, care for the poor, civil engagement, even respectful disagreement.
I have found that my own health is tied closely to the health of my community, and therefore, I have spent a significant amount of time in medical school trying to grasp more fully the ways we can pursue community health.
I am inspired by the work that the ALL Foundation has undertaken, because it exemplifies a true dedication to community health and the common good. It supports the education of students from all backgrounds, raises awareness and understanding of autoimmune disease, sponsors events and fundraisers that brings community members together. I am proud to be a part of this organization, to bear witness to Anthony’s legacy, and to continue the good work begun by a few for the blessing of many more.
Warm regards,
Joshua J

To those at the Anthony’s Legacy of Love Foundation,
I wanted to extend my deepest gratitude for awarding me the ALL Scholarship. I am sitting in the library at TCNJ as I write this, and looking around me, I couldn’t be happier to be here. Dear ALLS committee,
Thank you so much for selecting me as a recipient for this years scholarship. I really connected with Anthony's story and battle with his autoimmune disorder. I think it is so amazing what you all are doing in his honor. I am so fortunate to be involved. This award has been such a blessing for me, as I now am able to purchase all needed supplies for my first year in college. Thank you again for the opportunity. Dear Donors of the Anthony Winston Rodrigues Scott Memorial Fund,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for generously funding the Anthony Winston Rodrigues Scott Memorial Scholarship. When I received the scholarship notification, I felt very honored and grateful to have been a recipient of this award.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I am currently a second-year graduate student majoring in Communication Disorders at Stockton University. During my undergraduate career, I attended Kean University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Speech Language and Hearing Sciences and a minor in American Sign Language. For the longest time, I have always felt compassionate to help individuals with special needs and disorders, especially those with hearing impairments. With that being said, I felt that Stockton University would give me the best opportunity to pursue my master’s degree to help me cultivate my clinical decision-making skills needed for the real world.
While attending Stockton, I have joined the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) to become more involved in my community, network with other students, and learn more about where my field can take me. I also volunteer at a local therapeutic riding center called Hearts TRC in which I work closely with different individuals and therapeutic horses. Upon graduation, I plan to work in a special services school district with children of all ages and disabilities, as well as in a medical setting with the adult population later on down the line.
By awarding me the Anthony Winston Rodriguez Scott Memorial Scholarship, you have reduced my financial burden which allows me to focus on my education and put all my energy into doing well in my courses. I also believe that this gift will positively impact my future career and will continue to work hard to achieve my education and career goals. One day I hope that I will also be able to help struggling students reach their goals in higher education in the same way you are helping me. Thank you very much for your generosity.
Sincerely,
Amanda O.

Dear Anthony’s Legacy of Love Foundation Donor(s),
I am so honored to be a recipient of this scholarship. I would like to thank you for your generous, financial support towards my education.
I am from Lincoln Park New Jersey, and I graduated from Boonton High School. I transferred to Stockton after graduating from Count College of Morris with an Associate’s degree in Science. I am currently a senior majoring in Health Science with a concentration in Communications Disorders and Minor in Disability Studies. I expect to graduate spring of 2022 and plan to continue my education in graduate school to achieve my long-term goal of becoming a Speech-Language-Pathologist. I have been involved in lots of volunteer work growing up. My favorite volunteer work that I have done was teaching children to play softball and cheerlead. It was truly amazing to watch these children grow, learning new things, and enjoy themselves. Since I had transferred here fall 2020, I have not been able to be involved in many on campus activities, but I am excited for the campus to be opening up again, therefore I will be able to join in on more activities and clubs.
As I complete my education at Stockton, I am extremely grateful for this scholarship. Since COVID-19 hit, I have not been working because one of my family members has an autoimmune disease. It was too risky for me to be working and possibly contracting COVID-19 and passing it to her. This scholarship will help me in so many ways and I cannot thank you enough. It is heartwarming to know that this scholarship is supporting students majoring in Pre-Communication Disorders. In the future, I would be honored to donate to this scholarship fund to be able to help others as you have helped me. The meaning behind this scholarship is truly amazing and inspiring. I will continue to work hard and become the best professional possible, always remembering how this foundation helped me get through school.
Thank You,
Bethany H.

Anthony Rodriguez truly embodied the quote, "live life to the fullest”. Anthony faced life with a passion for helping others despite his circumstances. I often wallow in my own pity, but Anthony’s story inspired me to face life with passion. Anthony was not a quitter, and I will not be one as well. He knew how to find positivity in life; positivity that can change the path of someone's life. Anthony's positivity has changed the path of my life. I feel empowered to be the best person I can be and give back to my communities. I am extremely grateful to be even associated with Anthony’s Legacy of Love.
The ALL scholarship will not only help me succeed as a college student, but it will also enable me to share Anthony’s inspiring story. Thank you!
Thanks,
Shreya M

Thank you so much for choosing me to receive one of your scholarships this year. It really means a lot to me and I’m grateful that this opportunity will be helping me along to reaching my goals of helping hospitalized children and their families. Anthony’s story inspired me and gave me a real-life example of the people I hope to work with one day and I’m sure his trust in the Lord and bright personality would’ve made him one of my favorite patients. I appreciate you sharing his story and using this foundation as a way to bring awareness to autoimmune diseases. Thanks again!

I first would like to thank the committee and the Anthony’s Legacy of Love Foundation for this generous scholarship. I am sincerely honored to have been selected as the recipient of the Anthony’s Memorial Scholarship for Outstanding Community Leadership.
I am very thankful for receiving this thoughtful gift. Because of your scholarship, the financial assistance you provide will be of great help to me in paying for my educational expenses (ie. tuition and textbooks). As I complete my education at Howard University, majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry, this scholarship will allow me to concentrate more of my time on studying and giving back to the community.
Thank you again for your generosity and support. I promise to work very hard and to positively impact the future of others both as a student and hopefully as a surgeon.
Sincerely,
Ijeoma N.

"I'm an Uber driver who works anywhere up to 50 hours a week. I have been working both Uber and Lyft nonstop for the past two years, and it was the best job I had so far that helped support my education efforts at Stockton. When certain hardships fell on my family, my work efforts were hindered, and when the Covid-19 pandemic struck, my source of income came to a halt. I was devastated that I couldn't pay my tuition and graduation fees, but thanks to the Student Relief Fund, I was able to finish college and Graduate in May 2020. I want to give a big THANK YOU!! to the donors of the Student Relief Fund. I couldn't have made it this far without your help. Thank you for the hand up, and I hope to one day fill your shoes and help support our future Stockton students in their time of need."
